Is Seattle all bad or are there some places that are kid-friendly? Also, what's the best way to look for jobs?

We currently live in the high priced yet wonderful Bay Area and are thinking of relocating to Washington for the lower rent and costs mainly.. My husband works in marble and granite and has for almost 9 years and we're trying to figure out how to look for a stable an secure job up there PRIOR to moving..does that sound at all possible? Does anyone know of a good website besides Craigslist or even an area with good opportunities?
